In summary

Delta robots — also called parallel or spider robots — use lightweight carbon-fiber arms anchored to a fixed base, keeping moving mass tiny and acceleration brutal at 150+ picks per minute. Eurobots Marketplace lists used deltas from ABB FlexPicker, FANUC M-1iA and M-3iA, sourced predominantly from food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging line decommissioning.

About this category

Delta robots — also called parallel or spider robots — use three or four lightweight carbon-fiber arms anchored to a single fixed base. Because the heavy motors stay on the base, the moving mass is tiny and acceleration is brutal: a well-tuned delta can complete 150+ picks per minute on lightweight parts.

Used deltas come predominantly from food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging lines. ABB FlexPicker (IRB 360), FANUC M-1iA / M-3iA and Adept Quattro are the dominant brands on the secondary market.

Frequently asked questions

  • When does a delta robot beat a SCARA?

Deltas win above ~100 picks per minute, on lightweight payloads (typically <3 kg), when the workspace is a flat plane and the parts arrive on a conveyor. SCARAs catch up at lower speeds, heavier payloads, or when vertical reach is large.

  • Do deltas need vision?

Almost always. Most delta applications involve picking randomly oriented parts from a moving conveyor — that requires a 2D vision system tracking conveyor position. Buying a used delta without a compatible vision controller often turns a bargain into a project.

  • What payload range is realistic?

Standard food deltas handle 0.5-3 kg. Heavier deltas (FANUC M-3iA/12H, ABB IRB 390) reach 6-12 kg but at lower speed. Above 12 kg you're better served by a SCARA or 6-axis.

  • How much does a used delta cost?

Bare-arm used deltas from packaging line decommissioning typically sell for €8,000-€25,000 depending on age, vision package and washdown rating. Complete cells with vision, conveyor tracking and stainless wash-down enclosure can reach €40,000-€80,000.
