In summary

Articulated robots — six-axis jointed arms — are the workhorses of industrial automation, with rotary joints giving the dexterity to reach around obstacles and trace complex 3D paths. Eurobots Marketplace lists used and refurbished articulated robots from KUKA, FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa Motoman and COMAU, with payloads from 3 kg compact arms up to 1,000+ kg foundry-class machines.

About this category

Articulated robots — also called 6-axis or jointed-arm robots — are the workhorses of industrial automation. Six rotary joints give the arm the dexterity to reach around obstacles, approach a part from any angle, and trace complex 3D paths. They're the default choice for welding, painting, machine tending and material handling whenever flexibility matters more than raw speed.

On Eurobots Marketplace you find used and refurbished articulated robots from KUKA, FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa Motoman, COMAU and other major manufacturers, with payloads from 3 kg compact arms up to 1,000+ kg foundry-class machines.

Frequently asked questions

  • What payload and reach do I need?

Match the payload to the part plus the gripper — most buyers underestimate the gripper weight. Reach should be 20-30% bigger than the longest dimension of your work envelope. Common sweet spots: 10-20 kg payload / 1.5-1.8 m reach for generic handling, 150-300 kg / 2.5-3 m for spot welding and palletizing.

  • 6-axis or 7-axis robot?

Six axes are enough for nearly every task. Seven-axis arms (KUKA LBR iiwa, FANUC CRX, ABB YuMi) add a redundant joint useful for collaborative work and reaching around fixtures, but they cost more and are typically lower payload. Buy 7-axis only if you have a specific motivation for it.

  • How long do articulated robots last?

Mechanically, 15-20+ years of single-shift operation is normal with bearing and grease maintenance. Multi-shift duty in welding and automotive lines typically sees refurbishment around 8-12 years, mostly driven by control-system obsolescence rather than mechanical wear.

  • What does a used articulated robot cost?

Entry-level compact 6-axis (6-10 kg, 1.4 m reach, 8-12 years old) starts around €5,000-€10,000 bare arm. Mid-range workhorses (20-50 kg payload) land at €12,000-€30,000. Heavy spot-welding and palletizing class (150-300 kg) typically runs €25,000-€60,000 depending on age and brand.

  • KUKA, FANUC or ABB — which one?

All three are excellent. KUKA dominates European automotive lines and has the deepest used-market depth in Germany. FANUC has the largest worldwide installed base and strongest spare-parts logistics. ABB is widely used in Nordic and Italian carpentry and process industries. The right choice usually comes down to spare-parts availability in your region and your integrator's expertise — not technical differences.
