ROBOTIC APPLICATIONS

Pick and place

2 robots available. From €18,500 to €45,000.

In summary

Pick-and-place is the most common robotic application in manufacturing: pick an item, place it elsewhere. Eurobots Marketplace lists used pick-and-place robots across the full spectrum — high-speed delta robots from FANUC and ABB, compact 6-axis from KUKA and FANUC, SCARA from Epson and Yamaha, and collaborative arms for low-volume assembly cells.

About this application

Pick-and-place is the most common robotic application in manufacturing: pick an item from one location, place it in another. The challenge is rarely the geometry — it's cycle time, vision integration and gripper design.

Eurobots Marketplace lists used pick-and-place robots across the full spectrum: high-speed delta robots (FANUC M-1iA, ABB IRB 360), compact 6-axis (KUKA KR 6, FANUC LR Mate) and collaborative arms for low-volume assembly cells.

Frequently asked questions

  • Delta, SCARA or 6-axis robot for pick-and-place?

Delta robots win when speed matters most (>100 picks/min) and the workspace is a flat plane — typical for packaging. SCARA is the sweet spot for fast horizontal pick-and-place at moderate payloads. 6-axis is the default when picks need orientation changes or 3D approach paths.

  • Do I need vision for pick-and-place?

Only if parts arrive unstructured. For parts in fixtures or pallets, a robot running blind on taught positions is faster and cheaper. Add 2D vision when parts arrive on a conveyor with variable position; add 3D vision for bin picking.

  • What cycle time can I expect?

Delta robots reach 0.3–0.4 s per pick on light loads (<1 kg). 6-axis at 5–10 kg payload runs 1.5–3 s per pick on standard cycles. Real-world numbers depend on stroke distance and gripper design.

  • Used or new robot for pick-and-place?

Used robots make economic sense for proven applications with stable cycle times. Buy new when you need the latest safety functions for cobot operation, when uptime is critical and you can't afford a single-day rebuild, or when integration support from the manufacturer is a hard requirement.
